First-order nonthermal phase transition after preheating
During preheating after inflation, parametric resonance rapidly generates very large fluctuations of scalar fields. In models where the inflaton field φ oscillates in a double-well potential and interacts with another scalar field X, fluctuations of X can keep the φ→ −φ symmetry temporarily restored. If the coupling of φ to X is much stronger than the inflaton self-coupling, the subsequent symm...
متن کاملSimple model of first-order phase transition
One-dimensional model of a system where first-order phase transition occurs is examined in the present paper. It is shown that basic properties of the phenomenon, such as a well defined temperature of transition, are caused both by existence of a border between the phases and the fact that only in the vicinity of that border it is possible for molecules to change their phase. Not only the model...
متن کاملFirst order transition from ferromagnetism to antiferromagnetism in Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2: a magnetotransport study
The magnetotransport behaviour is investigated in detail across the first order magnetic phase transition from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic state in polycrystalline Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2 sample. The study clearly brings out various generic features associated with a first order transition, viz., hysteresis, phase coexistence, supercooling and superheating, presence and limits of the metastabl...
متن کاملFirst order transition from ferro - to antiferromagnetism in CeFe 2 based pseudobinary alloys
We present results of ac susceptibility measurements highlighting the presence of thermal hysteresis and phase coexistence across the ferro-to antiferromag-netic transition in various CeFe 2 based pseudobinary systems. These results indicate that the ferro-to antiferromagnetic transition in these systems is first order in nature.
متن کاملFirst order transition from antiferromagnetism to ferromagnetism in Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2
Taking the pseudobinary C15 Laves phase compound Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)2 as a paradigm for studying a ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic phase transition, we present interesting thermomagnetic history effects in magnetotransport as well as magnetisation measurements across this phase transition. A comparison is made with history effects observed across the ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transitio...
